Floating with a Weight
I wander around these rooms like a ghost
Memories float in the air
I gently reach up to hold one in the palm of my hand
It reminds me of what I had
And what has changed
And what I lost
It is a blade against my skin
But I prefer the pain to
Forgetting
I can't forget
Forgetting means losing what little I have left
God knows I've lost enough
My brain must have gotten packed with everything else
Because my head is light and empty
And yet
There is a heavy exhaustion in my bones
It keeps me weighed down to the earth
I am so tired
But sleep is alwasy just in sight and
Out
Of
Reach
I don't know my own age anymore
Time is a thick jelly that slowly pushes me along
My soul feels centuries old
These memories weigh me down
But
I'll carry them to my grave

To me, this poem is about leaving things behind and feeling a stress well behind your years.
