she just wanted to fit in
Have you ever thought about why we do what we do?
Why we swear through the streets?
Or we feel the desire to smoke a whole pack of cigarettes at the age of 14?
I leave my house and hear boys swearing
F***! Her a** was tight brother!
Why do we feel the need to use such vulgar language?
I am not innocent of this crime.
But i am sure that you aren't either.
I go onto the bus and hear girls chewing gum loud and watching some sort of TV show
Some tv show with so much violence
Oh so much violence.
Why do we feel the need to never talk to each other?
Why do we feel the need to keep this screen in front of us,
Blocking any sort of communication.
I am not innocent of this crime,
But i am sure that you aren't either.
Picking up your little friend in the middle of dinner
Use the same little friend to get out of an awkward conversation,
Who needs to talk to anyone face to face anymore?
I step off the bus and i see kids I think Ive known since the age of 10
Walking around smoking
As if it is so normal.
People at the age of 15 inhaling the poison
Why do we do this?
Have you ever thought about it?
To fit in?
Of course we all want to fit in. is it truly worth it?
Oh i'll just buy this shirt because it is SOOO nice.
After this I promise I'll be happy.
This is all I need.
I start walking from the bus stop to school,
And I see people drinking energy drinks,
Because the energy they have is not enough.
Chug, chug, chug.
Drink it fast so no one sees you.
Red bull, Nocco, Monster.
Which one this time?
I just want my friends to like me.
I step foot into my classroom,
See big lumps in people's gums
People,
Kids.
15 year olds.
Their teeth will be rotten,
Their gums will be cancerous,
But They just want to fit in.
I think to myself,
How do these teachers not notice,
But on second thought,
They probably already spoke to this poor kid,
Not listening,
All this poor kid wants to do is rebel,
To fit in,
For his friends to like him.
School finally over,
I hear kids next to me speaking about some sort of party they're going to
Buying vodka behind Ica Maxi
From some guy they don't know.
We are so f***ing excited to get trashed this weekend!!
Yet their parents have no clue,
That the babies they once held in their hands,
Now Has a bottle of vodka in theirs.
I walk home,
My mom turns on the news.
The headline catches my eye,
15 year old so drunk that she had to get her stomach pumped,
On monday I heard kids talking about it in school,
The girl I heard talking about that party just a few days before,
Now hospitalized, because she wanted to fit in.
The poor girl I sit next to in french,
Just wants to fit in.
A few weeks later the news caught my eyes once more,
Drunk 15 year old jumped of a building, now dead.
Once again I went to school on monday,
And heard kids talking about the tragedy,
The girl I sit next to in french,
Jumped off a building while drunk.
Her friends didn't get to her in time.
