T-rex Attack
“I think it saw me,” I whisper to Jakob.
“Hide,” Jakob yells.
We push our way
through the dense, green underbrush.
I wipe my forehead
from cold, panicked, sweat, despite the heat.
I hear the terrible roar of the T-rex,
as I hide behind the warm, moss covered side of a tree.
I see the dinosaur
standing over the rotting carcass of a triceratops.
I gag at the stench of the dead animal.
My five-year-old self
tells me that, that monster was out to get me!
“Quick, hide under that log!” says Jakob.
I slide under a log and bump my head.
I glance up and see
the underside of a bench.
My imagination got the best of me.
I hear the terrible roar of the T-rex
as hundreds of people observe its exhibit.
Jakob and I get up,
feeling relieved,
and explore the other exhibits
at the St. Louis Science Center.

Yes. I'm just amart enough to be efficient and say dinos instead. I didn't think that someone like you would even notice that.
Well, geez. I never said it was. At least I never got scared of dinos when I was 5!
wow man. Congrats on the pants
I wrote this poem about my imgination getting the best of me. This experience changed me as a writer. It open the door for me to write about my childhood daydreams.
