a letter to my once best friend
remember the day we met
how i was so awoken by you
how i thought you were one of a kind
well would you look at us now
remember those long car rides
how your hand held my thigh the whole time
how our smiles held all the starlight
well then how did we get here
remember squinting to see
how we laid down and stared toward the sun
how our speeches at our weddings formed
well curtain’s going up now
now look at what you’ve ruined
how we have become the perfect storm
how you sic your pet girlfriend on me
now look at how we perish
now see how you are old news
how i’ve made something so much better
how you are just ashes in the wind
now watch as you diminish
now watch; you can’t control me
how you will never hurt me again
how you will call me bitter; that’s fine
now the curtain’s going up
thanks for being the star of the show
but it’s time to go
the back door will not be open
if you ever want to come home
i’m (not) sorry
