Dear Heart
Why can’t you fall in love?
You’ve done so in the past, so why not now?
Is it possible that you’ve finally gotten thick skin
after all the times you’ve been shattered?
You are colder than you once were.
Isolated,
Dark,
Iced over so that those who dare to reach for you shrink back as soon as their fingers lay upon the glacier you’ve become.
You were warmer before,
A fireplace for the cold,
Where they could roast marshmallows and warm their own hearts up once more,
Possibly warm at the thought of you.
So why not now?
Why can’t you fall in love again?
