From Ashes to Ashes
Wind stirs up the dying embers;
One spark, two;
Flame ignites where a spark occurs;
To the fuel that burns I bid adieu;
Thick, black smoke the fire conjures;
Crackling heat will ensue.
The inferno rises ever higher;
Like an outstretched hand it claws for a hold;
Nothing can quench its burning desire;
It is your best friend in the cold;
Your enemy should the worst transpire;
It is mesmerizing in its beautiful gold.
Its destruction strikes fear in hearts;
A giver and taker of life;
As breathtaking as fine arts;
As deadly as a knife;
In the souls of those afflicted it leaves scorched marks;
Its lethality is rife.
One quick breeze and the flames are gone;
No more smoke and no more flashes;
No more feats of its brawn;
Like a phoenix, its life comes and passes;
Caught in an endless cycle like the dawn;
From ashes to ashes.
