No Boundaries
A young kid
Hurt by kids her age
Made to confide in adults
She got her childhood stolen
She’s 15 going on 50
Everyone tells her to “act her age”
She’s either 4 or 40
There’s no in between
Why?
She longs to be young
To relive the time
The time she wishes she could forget
But to live it differently
She longs to move forward
To get far away
She believes if she is old
No one can hurt her again
She’s stuck in the middle
The middle of young and old
The middle of innocence and wisdom
But she can’t be what she is
Why?
She never got the time in the middle
Someone stole that from her long ago
Someone her own age
So she confides in adults
She is loud and outgoing
She is scared to go unnoticed
For too many years she was unnoticed
By all but one
No this is not an excuse
But it is an explanation
Everything that she does
Is connected to that person
When all you want is your innocence
It is hard to “act your age”
It is hard to move on and forget
It is hard to be yourself
But there is hope
She believes in something better
She believes in happiness
She believes her future
Is far bigger than her past
