Resolution
As long as I️ can remember,
I’ve found myself forever walking down
The same withered cobblestone road
Stretched infinitely beyond
Without the promise of an end.
Now, as the leaves are trampled by my feet
And the frigid chill has pierced its way
Through springtime’s warm embrace
As the barren branches of the great oak
Tumble towards the white blanketed earth
As the thought of one more step
Makes my weary legs grow feeble
Now, for the first time, I turn my head behind me
And now for the first time I can clearly see.
This straight line path
I have trudged eternally down.
Shadowed in my resolution
Yet it is resolutely enduring
Cleaving thick green carpeting
In its tenebrous wake.
It’s dawn obscured the in dead of night
Yet I see clearly the path i’ve taken.
My centurial odyssey
While born of the glittering sun,
Led through the most dismal of nights.
And now, with its termination near
He reaches out
And again I burn.
