The soldior he charged into the choas

like a battering ramn in swift motion

his rifle poised like a spear towards the fight

his yell echoeing fiercely in the night

Through fire and smoke he careened and surged

bodies of comrades watched blankly this man

as he made his final couragious attack

for his brothers fallen, with earth to back

dense smog curled like the fingers of death

an acrid stench stung the heroe's eyes and lungs

but even as his thoughts screamed in retreat

he locked his gaze forward and churned his feet

the world knows nothing of this man's fate

or the valor he showed admist the foe

against all odds he refused to fly

and thus lay down with his brothers to die.
