My Friend Was
My Friend what have you seen?
Do tell ‘bout the saddening gleam
Two black holes replaced the light
Your eyes; today or twilight?
You say you’ve seen thee ugly truth
That you must go and in your youth
‘Cause life’s a game with none to win
Beauty at first, but full of sin
Beautiful lie, you’re not deceived
Its meaning hidden for many believed
My friend, do say, where is your mind?
Hello to you just passes by
It seems you’ve left this world of mine
Perhaps we all have you confined
You smile and laugh, but is it a lie?
You talk as if you read from lines
You say to me “dear friend don’t fret”
You traded your mind before we met
To Wonderland you often go
A way to escape the World’s puppet show
My friend why did you disappear?
Gone from me and gone from here
Invisible tears left your cheeks stung
Too many wounds for someone so young
All this buried deep beneath
Perhaps you could only admit defeat
16 words to say adieu
16 words for me from you
The words below written in blue
Addressed to the friend you barely knew
“I hope you stay in the beautiful lie,
‘Cause the truth will cause you to die”
