It was Jane Strong's first day
At Salem Senior High.
Walking the halls, she saw
The dreamy Caden Bligh.

Shy, little Jane Strong knew
She really loved that guy,
And she tried hard to get

His books dropped, and she picked
Them up from where they lie
And, with a smile, gave
Them back to Caden Bligh.

She held the door open
For him when he walked by,
But nothing of it was
Noticed by Caden Bligh.

The months passed by the same;
Jane wondered why she tried
To always give love to
The selfish Caden Bligh.

One day, while walking home,
His head held to the sky,
He failed to see the truck
Headed at him, Caden Bligh.

Seeing from the sidewalk,
Jane gave a wild cry
That startled the daylights
Out of poor Caden Bligh.

No! Oh my gosh, watch out!
Wait, stop, speeding semi!
Stop, or you're going to
Run over Caden Bligh!

She shoved him out of the
Way, with a last goodbye.
She took the blow from the
Truck, to save Caden Bligh.

Holding Jane Strong in his
Arms as the poor girl died,
He realized the things she
Did for him, Caden Bligh.

She'd paid the final price
Pushing him to the side.
He could never repay
Her gift to Caden Bligh.

Whatever have I done
Due to my stupid pride?
She is gone; I'll be, too;
No more was Caden Bligh.

The mournful church bells rang
Their sad tune, asking why
At the funeral of
The guilty Caden Bligh.
