The Tigers Eye
She slipped the loop onto her finger
The sense of empowerment did not linger
Elegance this party did not boast
Yet she remained the proper host
The Tigers Eye
Clinging, clanging, and loud banging
Trays were here and cauldrons were there
She couldn’t stop the outlandish affair
The Tigers Eye
Kicks and screams added to gleams
Anger, fear produced a tear
Another sound did she make proved to be her last mistake
The Tigers Eye
Click, click, flash
The detective added to his stash
He looked at her colorless face
Staring into space
An exotic beauty with the hair of a ruby
She was no more
The detective: ready to settle the score
The Tigers Eye
Long, dark nights
Some full of frights
Suspects come and go
The case was losing flow
Neither a clue here nor there
The detective groaned in despair
The Tigers Eye
A triumphant grin spread across his face as he slid the ring off her grace
Sneaking back to the door
Important evidence was no more
This man, now stalking the night, would kill again for delight
The Tigers Eye
The case was dead
The tremendous weight of dread
The detective bowed his head as she was laid to bed
The Tigers Eye
The gleam in his eye did not hint to a cry
The adrenaline rush was done
Next time he would use a gun
The Tigers Eye
Snap, snap, break
The detective turned from his ache
A figure blended into brush
Suddenly, an overwhelming rush of disgust
The Tigers Eye
The ball
So elegant
So grand
Nothing about it was bland
Two months later, she had to wait
Now she walked on the arm of the perfect date
The Tigers Eye
The pleasure
The steam
She was so happy, she could scream
The Tigers Eye
A kick, a screech
Survival was out of reach
Within a flash, she could not lash
A single tear streaked her face
The world was not left with grace
The Tigers Eye
A murderer returned
The detective’s face burned
Another victim
Another face
This one wrapped in pretty lace
Her red curls stood out; a mess
The detective knew: more redheads would be in distress
The Tigers Eye
