The Ballad of the Scarlet Letter
The woman held by secret sin,
Covered in her shame.
Living in a colonial village,
The letter she defamed.
Then along came Pearl,
The only good of her sin.
Elf child running free,
Not far from Mother Prynne.
Where has the sire gone,
Must they suffer alone?
She must be Able to bare the sin,
Although she cannot atone.
A young reverend caught in trespass,
Tortured by another.
Pearl’s father is finally claimed,
To suffer with her mother.
