If (You'll Be Mine)
If I held you tenderly each time you cried
kissed each tear falling from your eyes
whispered endearments to soother your pain
shoulder the burdens that cause you strain
If I whispered 'I love yous' while you dreamed sweet dreams
vanquish the nightmare that make you scream
promise you forever and mean each word
say the sweetest things you've ever heard
If I do all this for you, and more
would you share the love that you have stored?
Could you heal this wounded heart of mine?
Heal scars caused by pain-filled times?
Prove me wrong, destroy my fears
be the one I hold most dear
Destroy the fears that cause this pain
and teach this heart to love again
Bury the shards in the night to be
let the mornings rays purify me
we'll whisk away come morning dusk
and prove our love is more than lust
A love to last through the trials of time
I'll be yours, if you'll be mine
