A Temporary Friend

sometimes you feel
like you still want to hold on
but you've gotta think
hold on, for how long...?
will it really be worth it
when it all comes to an end
all the sacrifices you've made
for a temporary friend
as we go along we learn
that boys will be boys
and someday they will realize
that our hearts are not toys
soon that day will come
but for now we can only wait
for the boy who sweeps us off our feet
and for that perfect date
as we grow older
our relationships last for longer
and after every break up
we only grow stronger
