Where Are You?
God, I chase in a prance of pleas,
Waiting for you to just see me.
I know it’s selfish but I can’t contain
The envy pulsing through my veins.
Nothing can sober except the rain.
Hysteria engulfs my empty laugh.
I want to be free from this photograph.
Black and white faces filled with gloom,
The viewer forced to but assume
My poisoned despair, a toxic fume.
Where are you God in this dark hour?
Doesn’t anyone have a superpower?
Who can save me from the night
And say everything will be alright?
When will darkness surrender to morn’,
When families reunite that once were torn?
The world can be healed if only you try,
Yet you turn your head, unwilling to comply.
