‎"Like a man who gazes only backward on a trip across the country, I ignored what lay ahead. I missed the beauty of a coming sunrise, the wonder of anticipation that makes life worthwhile."

-Nicholas Sparks (Message in a Bottle)

Blue filled skies, sun shining sets
The light shall arise, a new day again
And with the new day I welcome a brand new sun
The past is behind me, the future has not yet begun

Close my eyes, with one deep breath
I'm done with the lies, making room for the rest

Moving on has never been so hard
Surrounded by love I can finally start
When I look ahead to what I expect
I realize the beauty is in the unexpected

This is not a song but my testament,
That I won't hurt again,
Love, peace and friends
Is what I'm living in

Open my eyes, one step to start
Moving on with my life, I'm done thinking with my heart

Moving on has never been so hard
Surrounded by love I can finally start
When I look ahead to what I expect
I realize the beauty is in the unexpected

This is not a song..

The author's comments:
With this piece I never intended for it be a poem or to post it or anything. I was just writing my emotions at the time and what I felt I needed to do to move forward with my life. Also, the title really has nothing to do with the poem itself. I was just setting it strait in the writing that I didn't want my message to be viewed as a song, but my own personal testament to moving on and moving forward with life.
