Running Rivers

Rushing, spraying, gently gliding,
Down the mountain I go.
Turning and twisting, rising and falling
To the sound of Nature’s harmonious flow.

Slowly flowing over smooth stones
Nature’s pull guides me down.
Starting at the top and descending,
I am on the journey alone.

Though at times I do have friends,
But they never last for long.
They come and go with Nature’s flow
To never be seen again.

Rushing, spraying, gently gliding,
Down the mountain I go.
Turning and twisting, rising and falling
To the sound of Nature’s harmonious flow.

Faster, faster, and faster I run,
My rapids growing more wild.
Twisting, turning, and out of control
My world is turned upside down.

But then peace comes as I slowly fall
Off the cliff’s edge into still air.
Flying, falling, flying down,
Into the new world I go.

Rushing, spraying, gently gliding,
Down the mountain I go.
Turning and twisting, rising and falling
To the sound of Nature’s harmonious flow.

Crashing and misting, I hit the still surface
Where calmness and peace reside.
But the calm is disturbed as the sun comes up
And heat takes me into the sky.

I gather together in one white puff
Watching the world below me.
But then I grow heavy and I fall back home
Where I truly belong.

Rushing, spraying, gently gliding,
Down the mountain I go.
Turning and twisting, rising and falling
To the sound of Nature’s harmonious flow.

I loved writing this piece because it reminded me of people living their lives. At times it is peaceful and slow, but then it will fall out of control. Then they will rise to the top only to fall down again.
