Downpour
Drip, drip, drip;
Goes the rain on the glass,
As it pours down from the heavens.
Drip, drip, drip;
Goes the tears running down my face,
Into rivers of despair.
I can see the surface growing farther away,
I am slowly drowning.
And yet I remain in my bed,
Still breathing,
The downpour outside beating against my windows.
But if I close my eyes,
I can sense the dark vastness of the ocean,
It’s current always trying to pull me under.
The deafening screaming of the harsh winds,
Pulling & scratching at my ears.
Yet when I open my eyes once more;
I am in my bed,
The rain still pitter-patter on my windows.
