Heartbreak
The sound of heartbreak is like the crack of a tree branch.
The suffocating crush of bricks falling on your chest,
Sinking into your bones and pressing on your heart.
It’s like having a demon dance in your stomach.
The body transforms into a bag of stones,
Collapsing to the ground under the weight.
An apocalypse could happen and you wouldn’t be phased.
You’ve been buried alive, cold and alone,
Sleeping long hours and pretending it never happened,
Trying anything to feel normal,
Hiding away and hoping to not be found, like a child playing hide and seek.
Sitting on your bed, you wonder what you did wrong,
Why it’s all your fault,
What you could have done.
Hiding the emotions,
Telling everyone you’re fine,
You try to convince yourself.
Once you hear that twig snap in your chest,
You know that you will not be ok for a while.

I've never felt a heartbreak before but reading about them and witnessing them in movies and books really gives a clear picture on what it feels like. I enjoy reading love stories they help me have a better insight on what it's like to be in love.
