Keep Breathing
I am from nights of constant worry
From visions that are just too real
I am from self-inflicted scars
And wounds that never heal
I am from mental illness
From anxiety attacks
Always catching my breath
I dare not look back
I am from the fire of anger that can’t be put out
From watching in horror when I should get out
I am from horrible people disguised friends
From broken glass
And wanting it all to end
I am from death
From too many pills and not enough time
And thoughts screaming in my mind
I am from “I’m not hungry” and “I’m okay”
Just to keep the attention away
I am from depressing times
And being trapped in my mind
I am from a constant struggle
Yet I am still here
I am still fighting
Despite all my fear
I am aware that I might still fell blue
But this is important to me and to you
And though these thoughts don’t really leave
Just sit down close your eyes
And remember to breathe
