Rigor
6 AM - roll out of bed
Feels like 10 bricks fell on my head
How am I supposed to row today?
I ask myself this question every day
4 hours of sleep, kind of absurd
Make it through English but sleep all through third
Get to the benches, after the bell
There I see Sarah, tired as well
Hop in the lyft with Babatundas
Spill my water like a cartoon does
Ready for practice, arrive at MAC
See everyone carrying boats on their back
10 minutes late, run to the locker room
Better hurry before Allie puts me in a tomb
Carry the boat out of the rack
Boat hits the water with a thwack
Push out our oars, count down from bow
Only 20 minutes has passed, don’t know how
Shove off the dock, begin the warm-up
After the finish, we all swarm up
We reach the catch, simultaneously
Allie looks from the launch, smiling amiably
A successful practice, it’s time to go
But homework is so hard after you row
Sit on my bed, open the Chromebook
So much work, I can’t even look
I start to drift off, slump in my bed
6 AM - roll out of bed
