The quietness settled in the night
The yells ended.
The glass shattered
The floorboards bended.
She held her breath
Praying he wouldn't find her.
The floorboard creaked
She sat in the corner.
The door swung open
His silhouette stood in the door.
She winced and took her last breath
He watched his daughter's body fall to the floor.v
