Question Poem
Why couldn’t it have been me?
You said it was, but then changed your mind.
You said “you did, but not anymore.”
Why couldn’t it have been me?
Was it my looks? Personality?
Why did it all change? Why was it me in the first place?
Why couldn’t it have been me?
Now we don’t speak. The friendship we created is gone.
Did you want it this way?
Why couldn’t it have been me?
My mom says “You deserve better, a man that will truly like you.”
My best friend says “He is a jerk, you did nothing wrong.”
Why couldn’t it have been me?
So here I go, accepting the fact.
It has been me, just me.
