At The Water's Edge
You walk
You come across a stream
You drink but are still thirsty
It overpowers you and you fall in
Before you realize it your at the bottom
You look around
Water rushes around you
You see nothing but the dark
Then you see your life
Your family
Your friends
Things that have been long gone
Finally you can’t take it anymore
Your lungs scream for oxygen
Then you break through
Air returns
You swim to the bank exhausted
You lay on your back
As your vision clears you notice
Your life, your past is gone
The only thing left is you in soaking wet clothes
You have seen death and life in a few short minutes
You have seen regret
Misery
And the darkness
So what do you do now?
Do you walk away
Or fall in again, desperate for more
Again you are at the water’s edge
So what do you do?
