Ode To A Sky Not Mine
Oh, sky of autumn breeze
Blowing leaves around my feet
Not a cloud for miles
Yet all I find
Is grey when I look in your never-ending eyes
Oh, sky of snow piles
Dim light from a window to a bed
In which I compile
‘Thousand blankets
And scratchy wool sweaters waiting to be worn
Oh, sky of pretty spring flowers
Yellow, pink, purple, but not brown
All in a meadow
as I hop around
Barefoot in a white sundress and floral crown
Oh, sky of summer and little blue lies
With our melting popsicles and sweaty thighs
And pools unsheathed
From their insulating disguise
I ask for another hotdog
Oh, sky of reality
And pessimistic mentality
With your harsh fluorescent lights
And cheap linoleum tiles
It’s back to you and now I’m bored
