Ellyn
Ellyn’s ears remain sticky with fur
Fur, black and attempting to lure
Humans to pet
As much as Ellyn would let
them; until she remains wild
Crouching, jumping; a calm remains too mild
And not seen
Ellyn’s body remains skinny; fitted with sturdy legs
As if she were a table; yet she sits and begs
For attention; barks loud
As if to cover the rooms with a heaping cloud
Of noise
Ellyn, also a Service Dog, enters
Into the room with centers
Of wild overlapping with excitement
Her mind seeks no enlightment
Of being calm
Ellyn’s eyes remain darting; pleading
For you to pet her, desire leading
Away from her eyes towards yours
Wrapping around your eyes like cords
