Diving Board
My feet step on
The diving board drawn
With silver, metal siding
Not hiding
From the turquoise water
Filling a rectangular space spanning hotter
From concealed vents spewing air
Do I dare
To jump?
My fingers shake
From a chilled wake
As my feet step, the diving board shifts
It’s plates like earthquakes
The shifting vibrates
Along the metal siding at increasing rates
Clear, water droplets flow
Down silently from the siding to the blue glow
My dark brown eyes stare hesitantly
Across the water evidently
My back crouches down
The water splashes sound
I jump; legs springing
SPLASH! Water ringing
My palms slam against
The water; shoulders tensed
Downward; under its veil
I sail
Up towards the surface
The blueness unearths its
Calm waves splashing
My ears remain inaudible; noise is lacking
Calm breathing ensues
From me; away from the light blue infuse
My black hair remained wet
Tangled and messiness it set
My hands grip at the metal bar
Of the ladder; standing far
From the blue
My legs flew
Over the hot, white patio ground
I felt relieved; the water didn’t cause me to drown!
An interesting part, from a day in the pool, was the diving board
