Summertime
We ate ice-cream
Over laughter,
And we picnic-tabled
After;
Then we jumped out
For a talk,
Spoke a sweet
And smiling walk;
Then we split
Our summer slices –
Who gets worst?
And who gets nicest?
As we all
Had chosen one,
Someone had
Been left with none.
So we shared
And laughed together,
And the sunset
Dawned forever;
So when night
Came in the midst,
We knew nothing
Had been missed;
And as we
Ran catching stars,
And collected
Them in jars,
And then slowly
Let them go,
Watching their
Fantastic glow,
We knew we
Could wait a summertime
Before we’d
Let
Time
Go.
