Happiness
Fleeting
Hidden within a moment
Never in one place
It easily passes you by.
Its goodbye wave seems to tease you
For ever believing you're beloved friend would stay
Sadness often comes in its wake
And the heat seems far away
When it shines
All things dull in comparison
But when it fades
You're left blinded by its absence.
After a while
It seems like nothing
Appreciation is forgotten
Until it threatens to leave
Then things start to crack and shatter
But it is no jester
It does not wish to do you harm
Your heart just seems to sound the alarm
When its less welcomed companion has to take its place
Neither really leaves
So you must find the balance
Because happiness is always there
But at times the light's too dull to compare
