It was like a hurricane that I didn't see coming.
My mind would wander into darkness.
I never knew how I felt at times.
I was living, but part of me died that day.
When my eyes would close, I would see the evil eyes of death staring right at me.
Nothing would calm me.
I was like a sailor lost at sea that knew they were never coming home.
Why did this have to happen?
At times it was hard to breathe.
I might as well have died myself.
Oh, how I cursed that dreadful day!
I wished with all my might for it to be over.
Gasping for air; fighting for life.
Why oh why did this have to happen?
There will always be a hole in my heart for as long as I live.

The author's comments:
I wrote this poem because of a family fried of mine that died. She was very special to me. We were so close. I looked to her as a grandmother and she looked to me as a grand daughter. She never had any grandchildren so she looked to me as one. I loved her so much. It was a very hard time for me when she died. I want people to see how sad I was. I want them to feel how I felt in my poem. This is what I wanted to achieve.
