Laughter

Laughter fills spaces between us
Months of silence hang heavy in this humid air
A cloud of smoke fills my head
Lies are fed
And our Fingers thread
Together
And I speak
But the words aren't mine anymore
They're smothered
And I'm waging war between body and a tired mind
I'm right but I'm wrong
I'm weak but I'm strong

This isn't fair
That I can pretend to just not care
All these thoughts might as well be mindless
So lost in laughter
That it's not funny

But I find
Nothing is better
Than to achieve some temporary peace of mind
