Grass Roots
Grass takes root in a barren patch
Taking its time to carefully grow
Digging itself beneath the delicate soil
And deep into the ground down below
It sprouts in spring, breaking through winter’s snow
And waits for the soft breeze of summer to blow
But summer brings a bolt of lightning
Sparks of electricity shock and flow
As thunder jolts the grass from its sleeping
And tears the roots out from below
A plant cannot live with no place to grow
And so it falls limp with no place to go
