Change
All my life my mother has taught me about slaves and rights and freedom
I was naive and didn't understand what was going on all over the country
Today I look upon that time remembering the Caucasian Uncle Sam,
The figure of our country and our land,
The image of our people.
TODAY I see the image of our country as an African American, Happy, Free citizen
Full of Passion for our country
So now, as Americans, we have a choice
The world is changing, modifying, transforming and revolutionizing
We Must adjust
We shant be afraid of change
I know I am young and don't understand everything but I also know that
I will grow up with an African American president,
I will grow up with African American classmates,
I will grow up with African American teachers,
I will grow up with African American role models,
And I will grow up with the knowledge that we were all created equal and
Forever shall be!
For I am Willing to change.
