Mindless Words
Sitting in election chairs,
Mumbled thoughts swarm through a muddied mind.
Revised speech running through a conflicted head,
Not inflicting any harm.
Insensible words drone on,
So incomprehensible to you,
Mind focused on childhood dreams.
Snapped back to reality,
As the crowd screams your name.
Approaching the stand, the crowd dies down,
Swallowing pride, for fame must go on.
...speech'
As sweat glistens on a wrinkled brow,
Everyone cheers, except me.
The putrid air dissects deceit,
What should have been sweet turned so foul.
Your words drenched with age,
Familiar repetition.
A mindless, unaware crowd sits
Soaking up monotonous words.
Minds in a sizzle-burn,
With shameless applause
For meaningless words.
