Downward Shall We Go

Spiraling downward
ever more decrepit
our lives are a carousel
twining round and round
down to a bottom
of deceased hopes and dreams
trying not to trip
amongst the scattered bones and brains
a flicker of life
amid the corpse of despair
a ray of light amidst the darkness
a spark of hope
in a dismal world.
