If I Don't Come Back 3
I saw these men,
No,
I saw these boys
marching fearlessly into battle
with their hearts sewn inside their pockets,
They said they were saving their hearts,
Who or what for?
Well,
for me,
They were saving them for me,
Alas, I could not touch their hearts before,
Marching into the fight they were pure,
But once their innocence was stained,
Stained with blood and filth,
Then,
and only then,
Could I pluck their hearts from the trenches.
