Renewal
I thought that everything
Was within rhyme or reason
To find a new purpose
Fulfilled one's deepest meaning
But growing pains reside
Where memory takes hold
And at a tender age
We've already grown old.
I sought to understand
An image in the mirror
Of honesty and truth
My reflection grew clearer
But changing times entail
Some improvement in sight
And precepts from the past
Take on a different light.
I walked outside today
When morning had awoken
For comfort in the cold
No words uttered or spoken
But brilliant skies adopt
Such lovely shades and hues
And like the rising dawn
Life comes to us, renewed.
This piece is concentrated on reconciling two distinct ideas; the idea of self-growth and disappointment. In the end, both congeal in the presence of unshakable natural beauty.
