Ode on Beginnings and Endings
The current crashes down to great effect:
a massive puissance fathomless and blue,
this splash of reconstruction is unchecked,
impassively disrupting the milieu.
From all its height, with all its might, it falls,
thus overcoming dike and mind alike.
The landscape and its future now are wed.
This vicious brute, it verily appalls
the resolute romantics who ne’er pike
out fantasies; it is a watershed.
Portending repercussions, it is bold
in bringing pain best not inherited.
This solemn surge advances on the old,
while wringing dreams that once were merited.
Yea, gone are days of yore and cherished past,
a dirge of negativity in wake,
a splintered prow which held the course to take.
Upheaval flows from this iconoclast —
The sparkling pedigree drifts out to sea.
Does this descent of chaos spawn unrest?
Forsooth, although ’tis said that brightness comes
again from liquid state submerged, abreast
with the vast patt’ring clatter of the drums
of putrid battle beating on for peace.
Rejecting this aquatic misanthrope,
the marshy march continues towards the day
when all hostilities bog down and cease.
This phoenix gleans the good from periscope;
allaying strife, it keeps the flood at bay.
Belike divining meaning is inane:
celestial mainstays did this wrath inspire
from origins transcendently profane,
for solar sight did lunar loins admire.
The pertinacious power of the surf
arrives ashore on stellar whim sans rhyme.
The “prescient” present must its title waive …
A new now starts to seize its fleeting turf!
Impediment or impetus on time?
A controversial one, this tidal wave.
