The Future
Tomorrow the sun will rise and set,
And still life won’t be over yet,
So live and laugh free,
Don’t breathe in fear,
Of yesterday’s shadows or the future so near,
Tomorrow the sun will rise and set,
And still life won’t be over yet,
For yesterday’s gone,
And tomorrow’s not come,
So let’s make the most of today,
Tomorrow the sun will rise and set,
And still life won’t be over yet,
Mistakes will be made,
But salvation will come,
So don’t shy away from joy and freedom,
Tomorrow the sun will rise and set,
And if your life’s not over yet,
Then you live in the future of yesterday,
And know that tomorrow will not be so grey,
And so not in fear should you stay,
As the future shall exceed today

I wrote this poem back when I was eleven or twelve, so it isn't the kind of thing I'd normally want to disperse to the world, but what struck me when I dug this up was how calm and optimistic it was. Like a lot of people my age now, I am somewhat fatalistic, always stressed and convinced the worst will happen. These "words of wisdom" from my pre-teen self made me stop for a moment and think about if everything was really so awful. If this little poem could do that for someone else, I think that it's worth sharing!
