Clouds are gonna come, the cake kind, that are as
Sweet as finding love hidden in the kitchen,
In among the drawers and spiced air, with her lips
Pure brown sugar

Heat is gonna come, with sweet suddenness spilled
Out by caramel land, sent into the sky, and
Sent into the skins of young lovers in dance
Sweat-soaked, swaying

Tides are gonna come, and so sneakily that
No one even hears sugar being crunched on,
Fitting in the mouths of sweet horses like a
Salt sea taffy

Dark is gonna come, a rich chocolate-y dark,
Pockets stuffed with coin minted in a bygone
Shaping of the world, when light wafted and curled
Sweet, bright secrets

The author's comments:
Beware! Technical language ahead:
This is written in my own hendecasyllabic pattern based on the Sapphic stanza. The pattern is as follows (- is long, u is short, x is an anceps):
-uuu-||u--uux
-u-u-||-uuu-x
-uuu-||u--uux
---x
I didn't create the repeating -uuu- as an intentional mimic of the choriamb, but it seems to be an appropriate comparison nonetheless.
