I Want To Know What Death Is
I want to know what death is like
a cool rush of ending life
an adrenaline spike
this thing called life, for which I have no drive
I don't want to live like this
but I don't want to die
sure it and everything I will miss
but not enough to cry.
I want to know what death is
is it a he or a she
what is it with death my business
inside me wells up curiosity
why is this a feeling of strife
is it like the chopping of a tree-
the sharp sudden cut of a life
what is it- death's business with me
maybe it is like a man
with a beard like walt whit
whispers of words- with life a one night stand
as into the black death-like pit
or perhaps it is a woman
with her curvy attractive hips
unlike the words of a man
honey off of her lips drip
I want to kiss the sweet feeling of freedom
and taste the bitterness of death
but this tune of life I still strum
where is my final breath?
death can be unjust and often unfair
but how would I know
for life has still got me caught in its snare
its ups and downs tossing me too and fro
so I wait
but still I want to be shown
soon, though death shall be my mate
and then- then, I too shall know.
