Suicide Somnolence
The tide is coming in, so take a breath
Before the water rises up again.
Already I belong to stagnant death.
I dream of sleep that lasts as long as death,
To slip beneath the surface of this pain.
The tides are coming in, so hold your breath.
My body is a corpse that still draws breath,
My heart still echoing a dull refrain.
Already I belong to frozen death.
In the benevolent embrace of death,
The ocean tides spill from this sea-blue vein.
I love you even after my last breath.
The mirror’s truth, unfogged by waking breath,
Unsullied by a single crimson stain,
At last reflects my drawn-out state of death.
Your kiss is soft against my final breath;
Against this flood, your tears are only rain.
The tides won’t heed your prayers, so save your breath
As I surrender finally to death.
