I Lost you in the Street
I Lost you in the Street
The wind rushing through my hair
The sun warming my arms so bare
You can see my weeping breaths in the air
I'm too deep in thought to really care
My eyes down on the letter, the neighbors concerned filled eyes stare.
The wind tickles my nose, until I sneeze.
I hate this winter breeze
The chilly wind runs down my throat 'til I cough
I wipe my nose until it feels raw and rough
I've read this letter again and again maybe that's enough
My fingers numb from the cold
Grasping the letter you've never been this bold
I read the letter one more time, from the first word you have me sold
The wind sends bumps up my legs and arms
I'm still wearing the bracelet you bought full of charms
We were a odd couple to some
The clouds covered the sun, Soon the rain and snow will come
I follow street and walk along the sidewalk
No friends to share this with, who want to talk
I step over the children drawing pictures with their chalk
The wind whips and whips
Until my beloved letter rips
You fall through my fingers
The smell of paper in the wind still lingers
I run down the street chasing my letter
The beautiful words layed out on paper I couldn't have asked for anything better
Flying in the wind I feel like I'm losing you for good
Even though some think I should
I'd Thrash them all if I could
Down the street my hands reaching for the sky
losing you I want to cry
The winter air lodged in my throat
I watch my letter as it floats
Not in the best of shape I would never gloat
I stop to catch my breath
Losing you it feels like death
The sun begins to set
It begins to rain and my clothes get sop and wet
I'm filled with all this regret
My mind goes back to the day we met
The tears fill my eyes until they run like a faucet
Your letter, I can't believe I lost it
my body aches for the day again we meet
When you kiss, smile at me and greet
When you ask what is wrong? I'll reply "I lost you in the street."
