Ode to Water
Ode to water
Water, bestow your lustrous wonder,
Your flying rapids roar in thunder,
Your luminous body is always flowing,
Heading to who knows where,
While your mind is always stowing,
All your countless thoughts and many cares.
Water, your touch is magic, and I envy you,
For you heal all blight and despair,
The sight of your many tendrils,
Can just bring a man from death’s lair.
Water, when I feel you, I become you,
Floating in the midst of your bodily might.
My thoughts flow into your stream of mind,
And I lose myself out of your sight.
Water, you have countless beauty,
Your foaming armor covering your quiet inside.
A gleaming, silky, diamond, façade,
Uncovering inside your inner light.
Your waterfalls are like strands of hair,
Covering a strangers rocky face,
Many of your rivers are like arteries,
Intertwining in a bodily embrace.
Water, you can hurt me,
You can keep me down in the solitude of your space,
Your watery hands hold me down,
You don’t let me break through your face.
Water, you are beautiful,
But now I see that you are dangerous as well,
I can now think clearly,
I have broken from your captivating spell.
