What Remains
Hope murmurs on this broken battlefield
“I am here,” she whispers, “I am here.”
But Loneliness cries out,
“There are none but you and I!”
And Silence says nothing, as usual.
Pain has spoken its last word—
“Breathe.”—
And fallen with Strength and Life.
But now Hope’s voice grows louder.
“I am here,” she promises. “I am here.”
