The Last Note
She walked through the door, heart rapidly beating
Her beauty, as always, radiant and non-fleeting.
With such grace in her stride as never before,
She came with a food filled tray, but more
There seemed to be something new.
This Valentine’s day is different, I’m certain,
The way she strode in, her Sunday dress curtained,
There is something peculiar, some alternate motive,
There is something peculiar, with her heart beat so active.
Today must be my planned doom.
She has had it in her head for months now,
It is cruel that she would choose such a day, but how?
Of course! The food. There is poison within.
Furious! She is Devious. I shall’nt let her win.
So I release her, what else could I do?
I release my hands from her breathless throat,
I see her venomous meal sprawled on the floor,
I notice, next to it, a lonesome note
This curious note, I unravel it more
I read her last words: I Love You.
