Amore'
From first glance, you hope for the chance.
Passing each other every day, you keep your interests at bay.
You smile, you wave, hoping to see her the next day.
You laugh, you smirk, and think this just might work.
Deciding to risk what you have, you ask, thinking it can’t be that bad.
Once a friend, you hope it will last to the end.
Spending time together, she could always make you feel better.
When you were sad or down, she knew how to lift your frown.
As your relationship drew close and near, when with her you had nothing to fear.
Spending more time with each other, you begin to think you might love her.
Thinking the first kiss sealed the deal, you wonder if she thought the contract was real.
Holding hands and enjoying what you have, something in her eyes… is it a stab?
Too soon, too late, she’s found another date.
With a shocked silence, your heart breaks in a tempo of violence.
Empty and hurt, you begin to despise her every word.
Seeing through her every lie, you realize she’s found another prize.
Watching how she laughs with him, the spark in your heart slowly dims.
All you see is her for an endlessly long time.
Until you meet a victim of the very same crime.
Someone broken, just as you, you believe this love could be true.
So you start anew, and feel the emptiness slowly dilute.
As the relationship starts, you hope this girl won’t break your heart.
