What happens to a hero forgotten?
Does he bellow at his unwanted presence?
Or circle the town like a winding clock?
Does he knot his problems
Like a troublesome shoelace?
Or wrinkle away at the
Piercing eyes of self-defeat?
Is it how he hooks his smile into a frown,
When his rueful past stares him in the face?
Or does it haunt him like a remorseful disgrace?
