Who We Are
Dormant by day—
Recuperating from the previous night in our gloom stricken beds
Calculating were to find the most succulent prey
It’s not a sin to survive.
Shadows—where we must dwell
Spirits in physical form without a light to reach
Cursed by this inconvenient spell.
Ferocious by night—
Our hearts, though dead
Beats rapid.
Our mouths, though dry
Our stomachs, though empty
Crave the essence of life.
Our fangs,
Exposed.
Our prey attempts to fight,
But fails.
The fear, the hate, the scare
Defines who we
Are—
Vampire.
